
A chaotic multi-vehicle collision disrupted traffic on Thane’s Ghodbunder Road on Monday afternoon after a heavy container vehicle lost control near the Gaimukh police outpost.
According to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation, the incident occurred at approximately 4:39 pm. Preliminary reports suggest the driver of the large container truck lost steering or braking control, resulting in a violent chain reaction that damaged 13 vehicles, including several private cars and autorickshaws.
Immediate Impact and Response
While the collision caused significant property damage, authorities confirmed there have been no fatalities reported at this time.
Injuries: One individual sustained injuries during the pile-up.
First Aid: Local bystanders acted quickly, rescuing the victim and arranging transport to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Driver Status: Following the crash, the truck driver reportedly abandoned the heavy vehicle and fled the scene.

Local police and RDMC officials arrived shortly after the incident to manage the resulting traffic congestion and clear the wreckage. The police have launched a formal investigation into the cause of the mechanical failure or driver negligence and are currently searching for the absconding driver.
