DCP Sudhakar Pathare, a senior officer from the 2011 batch of the Mumbai Police, held the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
He had visited Telangana for official work and later decided to visit Srisailam Temple along with a friend. While returning to Hyderabad, their Innova car collided head-on with an RTC bus in the Domalpeta ghat section of Nagarkurnool district.
The impact caused the Innova to get stuck underneath the bus. DCP Sudhakar Pathare sustained a severe head injury, while his friend suffered internal injuries. Both were rushed to the hospital but succumbed to their injuries during transportation.
According to the police authorities statement, the accident occurred around (29 Mar 25) 12 PM. Initial reports indicate that neither DCP Pathare nor his friend was wearing a seatbelt, which may have contributed to the severity of their injuries. Also read GhatRoadSafety
Possible Causes of the Accident:
1. Was the ghat section a contributing factor?
2. Was the bus driver’s driving reckless?
3. Brake failure – was it a mechanical issue?
4. Was the road too narrow at that point?
5. Was there an extreme curve in the area?
6. Was over speeding a factor for the Innova or RTC bus?
7. Distracted driving by either driver?
8. Was it due to the steep ascent and center of gravity issues?
9. Could wearing seat belts have minimized the injuries?
