A somber cloud has hung over the Kaimur district following a devastating road accident in Bihar’s Rohtas district early Tuesday morning. An educational trip turned into a nightmare when a bus carrying students and faculty overturned on NH-319, resulting in the untimely death of two teachers and leaving several others battling serious injuries.
Details of the Mishap near Sohsa Village
The School Bus Tragedy occurred around 1:30 AM near Sohsa village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Parsathua police station. The bus was transporting a group from Middle School Badauna, located in the Chainpur police station area of Kaimur district. The group was en route to Patna for a scheduled educational tour when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
According to Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar, the bus was carrying a total of 44 passengers at the time of the crash, including: 36 Students,7 Teachers,1 Guardian
Casualties and Injuries
The educational community is mourning the loss of two dedicated educators identified as Puneet Kumar and Sumit Kumar, who tragically lost their lives in the impact.
In addition to the fatalities, the accident resulted in significant injuries to: 5 Teachers (including one female teacher), 11 Students
Local authorities and bystanders acted swiftly to initiate rescue operations. All injured individuals were immediately transported to Sasaram Sadar Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. While the condition of some remains critical, hospital staff are working around the clock to provide necessary care.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the horrific accident remains a subject of investigation. Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar stated that while the immediate priority was the rescue and treatment of the victims, the police are now looking into the circumstances that led to the vehicle overturning. It is yet to be determined whether the crash was caused by a mechanical failure, driver fatigue, or poor visibility during the early morning hours.
