Date: April 5, 2025 – Early Morning. A tragic road accident occurred near Nelogi, Kalaburagi (Karnataka).
Where a Tempo Traveller van collided with a parked truck, resulting in five fatalities and ten injuries.
According to police and Republic News:
The tragic road accident took place around 3:30 AM. A tempo traveller carrying 31 passengers was en route from Bagalkot to Nawaz Dargah in Kalaburagi when it rear-ended a stationary lorry.
As a result Five people died on the spot, and ten injured passengers were rushed to GIMS Hospital, Kalaburagi.
A case has been registered and is currently under investigation.
What are the Possible Causes of this Road Accident:
- Was low visibility a factor due to early morning conditions?
- Was the driver fatigued or drowsy?
- Was the truck improperly parked and not visible?
- Was the truck parked without authorization or hazard signs on a busy road?
- Did the truck driver fail to switch on hazard lights?
- Were the rear reflective tapes on the truck not visible or missing?
- Was the tempo traveller overs peeding?
- Was there poor street lighting in the area?
- Were there other contributing factors?
Road Safety Reminder:
A small mistake on road can lead to irreparable loss. In this case, five lives were lost and ten injured ,a tragedy that could have been prevented with basic safety practices ,which can’t be undo or rectify.
Road Safety Tips to Avoid this Types of Incident:
- Never park vehicles on active roads, especially at night or in low visibility.
- Always use designated parking areas or park on the extreme left side of the road.
- Place a safety triangle at least 50 meters behind the stationary vehicle to alert oncoming traffic.
- Always use hazard lights if the vehicle is stationary or broken down on the road.
