
VISAKHAPATNAM – A devastating road accident claimed the lives of three young individuals, including a minor, near Pothireddipalem in the Anakapalle district late Thursday night. The fatal collision occurred under the jurisdiction of the Yelamanchili (Rural) police station during the midnight hours.
Details of the Victims
The deceased have been identified as:
- Bangaru Nani (24) – Resident of Purushottapuram.
- E. Govind (25) – Resident of Purushottapuram.
- Bangaru Durga Prasad (16) – Resident of Pothireddipalem.
All three victims belonged to the Yelamanchili mandal. According to local authorities, the trio were close friends traveling from Purushottapuram to Pothireddipalem when the tragedy struck.
How the Accident Happened
Police reports indicate that the victims were traveling on a single two-wheeler. The accident occurred at the Pothireddipalem Junction while the motorcycle was attempting to take a U-turn. A private travel bus, which was heading from Anakapalle toward Tuni, rammed into the bike with significant force.
Rescue and Aftermath
The impact left all three riders with critical injuries. Despite emergency efforts, the severity of the trauma proved fatal. Two of the youths passed away while being rushed to the hospital, while the third victim succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Local police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. This tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the Yelamanchili mandal, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding highway safety and junction navigation during late-night hours.
