Details of the Incident
The victim, identified as Damyanti Chanwaria, was a dedicated educator posted at a government upper primary school. According to the police, the accident occurred on Chirawa Road in Pilani. Chanwaria had just left her residence and was attempting to cross the road when the high-speed collision took place.

The Investigation and Response
The SUV involved in the crash was driven by Manoj Saini, a resident of Laxmi Colony in Pilani. In a tragic twist of irony, Saini is also a teacher, employed at a school in Chirawa. He was also reportedly on his way to fulfill his professional duties at the time of the crash.
Following the collision, Saini and several bystanders rushed the critically injured Chanwaria to Birla Public Hospital. Despite their efforts to secure immediate medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries.
Current Status of the Case
Pilani Station House Officer (SHO) Chandrabhan confirmed that local authorities were promptly notified of the incident. Key takeaways from the ongoing investigation include:
- Vehicle Impoundment: Both the scooter and the SUV have been seized by the police for forensic examination.
- Legal Proceedings: An investigation is currently underway to determine if overspeeding or negligence played a role in the tragedy.
- Community Impact: The loss has sent shockwaves through the local teaching community in both Pilani and Chirawa.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the need for heightened road safety awareness on Rajasthan’s busy thoroughfares. Further updates are expected as the Jhunjhunu police conclude their formal inquiry.

Install smart traffic signals and clear signage at busy junctions to manage crossing vehicles safely and reduce speed. Enhance driver awareness through strict enforcement of speed limits and mandatory road safety training for all commuters. Improve road visibility by removing obstructions and ensuring well-marked lanes for scooters to navigate traffic securely.
