
Tiruchi, December 27, 2025:
In a tragic road accident near Tiruchi district, two youths lost their lives after their two-wheeler collided with another vehicle on the Tiruchi–Madurai National Highway on Friday night. The fatal incident occurred near the Soriyampatti bridge in the Valanadu police limits, highlighting once again the rising concern over road safety on busy national highways.
Victims Identified as Residents of Melur
The deceased were identified as M. Kathar Maideen (23) and K. Absher (20), both residents of Melur. According to police sources, the two youths were returning home after visiting Tiruchi when the accident took place. While traveling along the highway, they reportedly lost control of their two-wheeler and rammed into a vehicle moving ahead of them.
Death on the Spot, Police Begin Investigation
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the instant death of both riders at the scene. Local residents alerted the authorities, following which personnel from the Valanadu police station rushed to the spot. The bodies were recovered and later shifted to the Manapparai Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered in connection with the accident and a detailed investigation is currently under way to determine the exact cause, including factors such as speed, road conditions, and visibility at the time of the incident.

This tragic incident near Tiruchi has once again drawn attention to the dangers faced by two-wheeler riders on national highways, particularly during night hours.
