
A tragic road accident in Dhanbad district claimed the life of a 24-year-old man on Friday after his motorcycle was run over by a speeding truck near Bansgora under the Marafari police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Mantu Vishwakarma, a resident of Jharia. He was on his way to Bansgora to meet a prospective groom for his sister when the fatal accident occurred.
According to reports, Mantu was riding his bike ahead of his father Yogendra Vishwakarma, who was following on another motorcycle along with a relative. As Mantu reached near Bansgora, a truck speeding from behind rammed into his bike.
Truck Hit Bike From Rear, Ran Over Victim
Police said the truck hit the motorcycle from the rear, throwing Mantu onto the road. Moments later, the heavy vehicle ran over him, killing him on the spot. The impact was so severe that he died instantly before any medical assistance could arrive.
Witnessing the horrifying incident, family members and locals were left in shock.
Angry Family Members Stage Road Blockade
Following the accident, angry family members and locals blocked the road, disrupting traffic and demanding immediate compensation and strict action against the truck driver. The protest continued until police officials reached the spot and assured action.
Police Initiate Legal Proceedings
Marafari police station in-charge Azad Khan confirmed that the body has been taken into custody and legal proceedings have been initiated.
“The police have taken custody of the body and started legal action. The truck owner has been called to the site to hold talks with the bereaved family regarding compensation,” said Azad Khan.
The incident once again highlights growing concerns over overspeeding and road safety in the region.
