
A tragic road accident in Karnataka’s Gadag district claimed the lives of three women farmers and left more than ten others injured after their vehicle collided with a speeding lorry on Thursday.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Annapurna , Sangeetha Hosamani , and Mariyambu Hunagund . All three were residents of Shivajipete in Gajendragad.
Lorry Collision Claims Lives on the Spot
According to reports, the victims were daily wage labourers travelling to Rona for groundnut harvesting work when their vehicle met with the accident.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the instant death of three women at the accident site. More than ten passengers sustained injuries in the crash.
Injured Shifted to GIMS Hospital
The injured were immediately rushed to the Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources said that some of the injured are in critical condition, and the death toll may rise.
Police and Senior Officials Visit Accident Site
Following the incident, Rona Police visited the spot, conducted a detailed inspection, and registered a case. Gadag Superintendent of Police Rohan Jagadish also reached the scene and reviewed the situation.
Police officials confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
