Road accident site in Rayagada district where Forest Ranger Chandan Gamang lost his life after his car crashed into a tree

In a heartbreaking incident, a Forest Ranger lost his life in a road accident in Rayagada district of Odisha on Friday, sending shockwaves through the Forest Department and the local community. The deceased has been identified as Chandan Gamang, who was serving as the Ranger of the Kalyansinghpur Forest Range under the Rayagada Forest Division.
Accident Occurred Near Srirampur Village
According to preliminary reports, the fatal accident occurred in the evening hours while Chandan Gamang was traveling from Kalyansinghpur to Rayagada. Near Srirampur village in the Kolanara block, his car reportedly lost control and rammed into a roadside tree with considerable force.
Eyewitnesses stated that the impact was severe, leaving the Ranger critically injured inside the vehicle. The exact cause of the loss of control is yet to be officially confirmed.
Locals Rush to Rescue, But Life Could Not Be Saved
Residents from nearby areas immediately rushed to the accident site upon hearing the crash. With the help of locals, the injured Forest Ranger was rescued from the damaged car and rushed to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for emergency medical treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival, stating that the injuries sustained in the collision were fatal.
Forest Department and Community in Shock
The sudden demise of Chandan Gamang, a dedicated officer known for his service in forest conservation, has deeply saddened his colleagues and local residents. Officials from the Forest Department expressed grief over the loss and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, including whether factors such as speed, road condition, or mechanical failure played a role.
