Hit-and-run accident site on NH-57 near Nampo Chhak in Balasore where two youths lost their lives
A sad accident occurred early Sunday morning on National Highway No. 57 near Nampo Chhak in Balasore district, resulting in the death of two young men in a hit-and-run incident.
This incident has sparked major worries about careless driving and the safety of roads in Odisha.
The Victims Were Traveling to Jaleswar Railway Station
The two deceased individuals have been identified as Gautam Sahu, aged 18, and Chandra Shekhar Mahapatra, aged 22, both from Baghua village.
According to reports, the two were riding a motorcycle towards Jaleswar railway station around 3:00 am when the accident took place.
An unidentified vehicle collided with their motorcycle at high speed.
The driver ran away from the scene without stopping, leaving the two youths seriously hurt on the road.
Both Youths Died Immediately
Eyewitnesses said that the impact was so severe that both Gautam and Chandra Shekhar died on the spot.
The accident during the early hours greatly disturbed nearby people and local residents, who quickly informed the police.
Police Arrive at the Scene, Start Investigation
Upon receiving the report, police from the Nampo police station arrived at the accident site and transported the bodies to the G.K. Bhatar Community Health Centre in Jaleswar for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have begun an investigation to find the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run case.
Evidence was gathered from the scene, and inquiries are underway at nearby checkpoints to locate the vehicle that fled the scene.

The deaths have left the local community deeply upset.
Villagers gathered at the health centre to support the affected families, who are greatly upset by the sudden loss of their loved ones.
Resident have called for strict penalties against reckless drivers and improved monitoring on highways to avoid such deadly accidents in the future.

Police have promised to increase patrols on the Jaleswar–Chandaneswar stretch of NH-57.
