
A devastating road accident on the outskirts of Devanahalli, Bengaluru Rural, claimed the lives of three women and left eight others injured on Tuesday. The collision occurred near Rani Cross on National Highway 648, a key route connecting Hoskote and Dabaspet.
Victims Identified in Fatal Crash
The victims who lost their lives were identified as 38-year-old Ganga and two 60-year-old women, Jayamma and Yashodamma. All three victims were residents of Tiptur in the Tumakuru district.
Among the survivors, a woman named Kempamma sustained critical injuries. Given the severity of her condition, she was rushed to a specialized hospital in Bengaluru for advanced medical care. Seven other individuals, including the driver of the Tempo Traveller (TT), are currently receiving treatment at a private healthcare facility in Devanahalli.
Emergency Response and Traffic Impact
The collision severely disrupted traffic, causing a temporary gridlock on the Hoskote-Dabaspet highway. Devanahalli Traffic Police reached the site quickly to manage the congestion and coordinate rescue efforts.
Following their preliminary inspection:
- Ambulances transported the deceased to a local mortuary.
- Authorities cleared the wreckage to restore normal traffic flow.
- The Devanahalli Traffic Police Station registered a formal case regarding the incident.
Police have launched an investigation to pinpoint the exact cause of the crash. We advise local commuters to exercise extreme caution on NH 648 while officials continue their inquiries into this tragedy.

Install median barriers and high-visibility signage at Rani Cross to prevent head-on collisions and guide speeding drivers. Enforce strict speed limits and utilize highway patrol surveillance to ensure drivers maintain control on NH 648. Implement mandatory rest stops for commercial drivers to eliminate fatigue and ensure peak alertness during long journeys.
