A tragic road accident on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026, claimed two lives and left one person severely injured after a speeding lorry crashed into parked vehicles.
Initial Minor Collision on the Flyover
The sequence of events began around 2:30 a.m. near the Nalgonda X Road flyover. A Mojo Travels bus en route to Kakinada and a Gujarat-registered lorry traveling to Rajahmundry scraped against each other while overtaking. Both drivers pulled their heavy vehicles over to the side of the flyover and stepped out to discuss the minor damage.
Secondary Crash Leads to Tragedy
Soon after, a second Mojo Travels bus on the same route reached the accident spot. Its drivers, Srinivas and Bangarayya, stopped to join the roadside discussion. Suddenly, another lorry driving negligently and at high speeds from Hyderabad crashed violently into the stationary Gujarat lorry. The massive impact crushed the men who were standing helplessly between the parked vehicles.
Casualties and Rescue Operations
Tragically, Srinivas and Bangarayya suffered fatal injuries and died instantly. Suresh, a cleaner from the first bus, sustained severe injuries. Narketpally police officials quickly rushed to the site, transferring the injured cleaner to a local hospital for urgent medical care. The deceased were moved to the Nalgonda Government Hospital mortuary for postmortem examinations.
Police Launch Manhunt for Absconding Driver
Authorities successfully cleared the damaged vehicles, restoring traffic flow on the busy highway without major disruptions. However, the accused lorry driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police have registered a formal case and launched a manhunt to trace and arrest the absconding suspect.
Suggestion
To prevent such accidents, drivers must avoid stopping on high-speed flyovers for minor disputes. Always move vehicles to a safe service road or designated parking zone before exiting. Additionally, use reflective triangles and hazard lights to alert oncoming traffic during emergencies.
