Incident Summary:
In the early hours of April 22, a tragic road accident occurred near Gati Raouipatna on the Cuttack-Paradip Road in Odisha. A sand-laden Hyva truck, allegedly speeding, rammed into a Police Control Room (PCR) van from the CRRI Police Station.
As a result of the collision:
- Two police personnel died on the spot-one from the Odisha Police and one Home Guard.
- One more police personal was critically injured and is currently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
- The PCR van was completely damaged.
- The Hyva truck driver has been arrested, and a police investigation is underway.
Odisha Government Response:
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He announced an ex-gratia of ₹10 lakh each for the families of the deceased and assured full support to the injured personnel.
