What are the possible causes of this incident?
- Was overloading of the auto-rickshaw a primary cause?
- Was the auto-rickshaw driver traveling on the wrong side?
- Was the auto driver distracted or not focused on the road?
- Did the bus driver fail to anticipate the auto-rickshaw’s movements?
- Was the bus driver over speeding?
- Was the bus driver overtaking another vehicle and front collided with the auto?
- Was the road below standard width (less than 24 feet) for two-way traffic?
- Were there other contributing factors?
The Reality Behind the Incident:
Such incidents are sadly becoming a daily occurrence on Indian roads. We, the people of India, witness regularly through videos, news, or even first-hand. But despite repeated tragedies, the same traffic violations and human errors continue, leading to the loss of innocent lives.
This wasn’t the first time, and unfortunately, may not be the last unless urgent corrective actions are taken.
The auto driver left home hoping to earn a living for his family, and the passengers were likely heading out for work or daily chores. None of them returned home. While traffic halted for a while due to the crash, it eventually resumed. But the lives lost that day will never return, and their absence will forever leave a void in their families.
When will Indian road users take safety seriously?
A small mistake on the road can change a family’s life forever. It’s time to take road safety and defensive driving seriously.
Basic Road Safety Rules:
- Never drive on the wrong side of the road.
- Never overload a vehicle beyond permissible limits.
- Never get distracted while driving.
- Never exceed the speed limit.
Drive Safe. Stay Safe.
Drive Defensively. Follow Road Safety Rules.
