Road Accident Victims
Road accidents are common in India and involve with animals, pedestrians, motorcycles, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, cars, light commercial vehicles , trucks, buses, and slow-moving vehicles.
These accidents happen due to lack of awareness and careless driving, resulting in loss of life, injuries, permanent disability and property damaged.
Every day, countless of road accidents and injuries occur. In many cases, bystanders do not offer help due to various factors such as fear of police action, financial concerns, vehicle-related issues, or other reasons, leading to preventable loss of life.
The influence of social media has also become a factor. Instead of assisting accident victims, some people prioritize capturing videos or photos for social media trends. They neglect to provide first aid or call for medical assistance, which could be save lives.DriveSafe
Moreover, in many parts of India, ambulance and police services are inadequate. They often fail to reach accident sites in time to provide immediate assistance and save lives.
The Indian government and the Supreme Court have issued guidelines and laws, including the Good Samaritan Law, which encourages bystanders to assist accident victims without fear of police harassment and even eligible for rewards and protection under the indian law.
However, these provisions are not being implemented effectively on the ground.
A few NGOs and individuals with a sense of humanity are actively helping accident victims, but their efforts are not sufficient for a country as large as India.
This is a message and a call for awareness from SafeRoadLife: let us be aware, act responsibly, and care about road safety to prevent road accidents and save lives.
Drive safe, stay safe.
