In a tragic hit-and-run incident in Lucknow’s BBD area, a speeding car struck a motorcycle from behind, claiming the lives of a married couple. Despite being rushed to Lohia Hospital for emergency medical treatment, doctors tragically declared both victims dead.
Victims Identified in the Lucknow Road Crash
The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Devendra Kumar Verma and his wife, Sita Devi. Originally hailing from Farsatipur Gadia in Barabanki, Devendra was employed at a local factory in Lucknow. The couple lived with their family in a rented home in the Behta area. According to Devendra’s brother-in-law, Upendra Verma, the couple leaves behind two grieving children; a son, Aditya, and a daughter, Aditi.
How the Tragic Incident Unfolded
The fatal road accident occurred on Monday evening at approximately 5:00 PM. Devendra and Sita were returning to Lucknow after visiting a hospitalized relative in Barabanki. As they approached Anaura Kala Goyal Hospital, a reckless, speeding car rammed violently into their two-wheeler. The massive impact threw the couple a significant distance from their bike, resulting in critical injuries.
Local bystanders quickly gathered at the accident spot and alerted the authorities. The police arrived promptly and, with the help of passersby, transported the critically injured couple to the hospital, where they unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
Police Investigation and Search for the Driver
Inspector Ram Singh of the BBD police station confirmed that the authorities have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for a thorough post-mortem examination. While the police have successfully seized the vehicle involved in this tragic collision, a massive search operation is currently underway to track down and apprehend the absconding driver.
Suggestion
Strict speed limit enforcement and traffic cameras can deter reckless driving on busy roads. Creating dedicated two-wheeler lanes separates vulnerable bikers from faster, heavier vehicles. Riders should also wear reflective gear so drivers can easily spot them from afar.
