A late-night commute turned into a tragedy in Hyderabad’s tech hub as a 22-year-old woman died following a harrowing road accident in Madhapur. The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has once again raised concerns regarding road safety and heavy vehicle regulation within city limits during peak hours.
Details of the Incident
The victim, identified as Haniya Ayesha, was traveling pillion on a motorcycle with her husband, Abdul Basith. The couple, residents of Maheshwaram, were reportedly returning home after watching a movie when the accident took place.
As they navigated the stretch near Mindspace Gate Number 2, a speeding DCM (Delivery Commercial Medium) van rammed into their two-wheeler. The impact was severe, causing both riders to be thrown onto the asphalt. Both Haniya and Abdul sustained significant injuries in the collision.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Following the crash, witnesses and commuters rushed to assist the couple. They were immediately transported to a nearby private hospital for emergency medical care. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the medical staff, Haniya Ayesha was pronounced dead upon arrival. Her husband, Abdul Basith, continues to receive treatment for his injuries.
The Madhapur Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to secure the area and manage the resulting traffic congestion. Authorities have officially registered a case against the DCM driver. Key points of the ongoing investigation include:
- Vehicle Speed: Determining if the DCM van was exceeding city speed limits.
- CCTV Footage: Reviewing surveillance cameras near Mindspace to reconstruct the sequence of events.
- Driver Negligence: Investigating potential reckless driving or traffic signal violations.
This tragic loss of life highlights the ongoing dangers faced by commuters in Hyderabad’s high-traffic zones. Local residents have frequently called for stricter monitoring of commercial vehicles to prevent such avoidable fatalities.
Suggestion
Enforce stricter speed limits and dedicated lanes for heavy vehicles near high-traffic hubs like Mindspace. Improve late-night street lighting and install high-definition surveillance to deter reckless commercial driving. Increase police patrolling to ensure heavy vehicle drivers strictly follow urban safety regulations.
