A devastating double collision in the temple town of Dharmapuri claimed the lives of three young men and left nine devotees seriously injured on Wednesday night. The accident, involving a speeding lorry, a motorcycle, and an autorickshaw, has sparked a high-level police investigation into the cause of the crash.
Fatal Collision Involving Speeding Lorry
The tragedy unfolded near the Bharat petrol bunk when a speeding lorry struck a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction. According to local reports, the motorcyclists were attempting to overtake an autorickshaw when the heavy vehicle collided with them head-on.
The three victims on the bike were identified as:
- Madasu Amarnath (22) of Dharmapuri
- Padala Rishwanth (22) of Dharmapuri
- Kola Mayank (22) of Jagtial
All three youngsters died instantly at the scene. They were reportedly traveling from Dharmapuri toward Jagtial town at the time of the incident.
Secondary Crash Injures Hanuman Deeksha Devotees
The horror intensified moments later. Following the initial impact with the motorcycle, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle, subsequently ramming into a nearby autorickshaw.
This second collision involved a group of Hanuman Deeksha devotees hailing from the Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. Nine passengers within the auto sustained critical injuries and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.
Police Investigation Underway
Local authorities in Jagtial district have registered a case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Preliminary findings suggest that high speed and a risky overtaking maneuver contributed to the sequence of events.
This tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the temple town, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding road safety and heavy vehicle regulation in the region. Further updates on the condition of the injured devotees are expected as the investigation continues.
