
CHITTOOR, ANDHRA PRADESH – In a devastating road accident early Sunday morning (March 22, 2026), two people lost their lives and four others sustained injuries after their vehicle collided with the rear of a lorry. The fatal crash took place near the Kothakota flyover in Puthalapattu, located in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district.
Details of the Kothakota Flyover Crash
According to the Puthalapattu circle police, the incident occurred when a Karnataka-registered taxi rammed into a 10-wheeler lorry. Preliminary reports indicate that the car’s driver may have felt drowsy at the wheel, leading to the severe rear-end collision.
The impact of the crash was so violent that two passengers were tragically flung from the vehicle’s shattered windows.
Victims Identified in the Puthalapattu Accident
The deceased have been identified as a married couple: 50-year-old Sathish and his 45-year-old wife, Bhagyalakshmi, both residents of the Mandya district in Karnataka. The family was traveling in a taxi to the sacred town of Tirumala when the tragedy struck.
Four other occupants in the car survived with minor injuries. The injured passengers include:

Ongoing Police Investigation
Emergency responders quickly transported the four injured survivors to the Government Hospital in Chittoor for medical treatment. The bodies of the deceased were moved to the local mortuary.
